santa hat knitting pattern #candyloucreations

Here is how I made the Santa Hat Knitting Pattern

Gauge: 4 stitches to the inch.

  • Cast on 56 (68, 80) stitches in white.
  • Knit front and back of each stitch, still in white.
  • Double knit the brim for an inch with white on the outside and red on the inside.
  • Separate the stitches and knit the inside lining like a regular hat.
  • Knit for 6.5 inches and then decrease by k2tog around, then knit around, k2tog around, knit around until there are a few stitches left on the needle.
  • Break the yarn, thread through remaining stitches and tie a knot.  Now the lining is done.

Now begin the outside.

  • Increase by 4 stitches to 60 (72,84) stitches.
  • Knit 5 rows
  • Then begin the snowflake pattern….

K2tog around until there are 10 (12, 14) stitches on the needles

Cut yarn, sew through remaining stitches and pull tight.  Fasten.

Leave a long strand to help anchor pompom.

Here is what I use to make pompoms in 5 minutes or less
