The Crosswise Free Baby Blanket Knitting Pattern

crosswise fruit salad

If you want a project that is so simple yet squishy and cute, try knitting the Crosswise Baby Blanket.  It’s knit with the garter stitch with increases and decreases, using yarnovers and K2tog.

This pattern makes a perfectly square blanket.  This Crosswise Baby Blanket is 30″ x 30″.

When using one color like the one in this post, I bought 4 skeins of yarn.  I used the first 2 skeins for the increases and the 3rd and 4th skeins for the decreases.  I often enjoy switching colors and using up my stash but for this blanket I chose one color for the whole project.

  • Baby: 700 yards for 30 x 30

Needles

Knitpicks: Mosaic Options Interchangeable Circular Needles

Size 8 with a 24″ or 32″ cord with a gauge of 18 stitches per 4 inches

Knitpicks says it best:  Combining Radiant’s bright, bold and warm boisterousness, the sea-inspired colors of Caspian’s oceanic hues, and the luxurious jewel tones of dignified Majestic, Mosaic gives you the usual strong and smooth layers of laminated birch in every color you could want. And the distinct sequence of colors will make finding the right needle size easier than ever.
