Yarn

Project shown with Hobby Lobby’s Aran Weight I Love This yarn in 5 colors for a stroller sized blanket 22 x 28:

100 yards: White

75 yards each of:

Color A: Soft Pink
Color B: Ocean
Color C: Orchid
Color D: Glacier

The pattern recommends 7 colors but for this project I chose white for the in between color and only 4 colors for the stripes.

How much yarn should I buy for different sized blankets?

Assuming a gauge of 4.5 stitches to the inch:

  • Stroller: 400 yards for 22 x 28
  • Baby: 700 yards for 28 x 36
  • Small: 1000 yards for 34 x 40
  • Medium: 1300 yards for 36 x 46
  • Large: 1600 yards 42 x 50

I Love This Yarn

Knitpicks: choosing the right yarn is a great article on deciding which yarn you’d like to use for which project.

The Biddeford Baby Blanket Knitting Pattern is available on Etsy and Ravelry.

With Size 8 circular needles, pattern specifies the number of cast on stitches, approximate yardage needed and how to make the blanket in Stroller, Baby, Small, Medium and Large sizes.

Gauge is 18 stitches to 4 inches.  For this project gauge is not that important.

It is rated Easy by Ravelers and the pattern is clearly written.

There are many ends to weave in… so choose a good show on Netflix and have at it, the end result is so worth it!
