knit elephant blanket

E is for Elephant

This little elephant themed stroller sized baby blanket is made with knits and purl stitches only. The designs are formed when using garter and stockinette stitches. There are charts for the A B C D and also for the elephant. The charts have written instructions directly below them for those who prefer them.  If you’d like to learn how to make designs with your knitting with just one color, the easy way, this is a great pattern to learn how to do that!

I made this blanket as part of a set for a pair of identical twin boys. The other blanket is called Sailboat XOXO.

If you can knit and purl and like to make designs with your knitting, this pattern should be easy to follow and fun to knit!

Yarn

I used 2 skeins of  Hobby Lobby’s I Love This Yarn for this project.  I had a couple skeins in my stash and was happy to use them up.

I Love This YarnHave you tried Lion Brand Basic Stitch Acrylic Yarn? It’s another great blanket yarn that goes in the washer and dryer and just gets softer and softer with time.

Needles

Next step – gather my needles.  I always knit with circular needles because the work can rest safely on the cable when I am not knitting.  The needles I have been using lately are the Knitpicks Circular Interchangeable Needles.  I really just love them.  For my baby blankets and the Hobby Lobby yarn I like, I always choose a size 8 needle.

I have been loving this needle organizer from Etsy.  It keeps everything together in one place.  I can throw it in my knitting bag and everything stays put.

Needle Organizing Case

This weekend I am heading to Boston to visit my daughter and grandson.  I will probably switch over to these needles because the case is super sturdy and certified for airport security.  Look at these needles, aren’t they so pretty?
