Three Wishes Baby Blanket

My three wishes that I wove into this baby blanket are for gratitude, patience and healing.

What are your wishes?

The Three Wishes Baby Blanket is a stroller sized blanket that uses 3 colors of yarn.  There is a 14 row repeat which creates a striping effect.  The right side is knit while the back is knit and purled.  The blanket is a basket weave striped design that is modern and stylish and perfect for keeping babies warm.

Even summer babies need blankets in air conditioned cars and homes.

It is just the right size for the stroller or car seat.  As the baby gets older, it may turn into a cherished lovie because it is just the right size.  By using acrylic yarn, the child might end up dragging it with them on the playground but it won’t matter because it can be thrown in the washer and dryer with ease.

The final size will be approximately 24″ x 28″ but can be easily modified for larger sizes by adding increments of 22 stitches to the cast on.

Yarn

The yarn I used for the Three Wishes Baby Blanket is Hobby Lobby’s I Love This yarn.  I have 5 grandsons and have been knitting a lot of hats lately for them.  I have so much leftover blue yarn that I was able to use up my stash with this Three Wishes Baby Blanket.

The colors I chose were Soft Blue, Medium Blue and Royal Blue.  I used approximately 175 yards of each color.

I Love This Yarn is an acrylic aran weight yarn that can go in the washer and dryer with ease.  The yarn holds up under years of washing and gets softer and softer with use.  I simply do love this yarn for my baby knits.  New parents love the ease of washing them too!

Choose your 3 colors of yarn to coordinate with each other and then name them Color A, Color B and Color C. Take a picture of them in the order in which you wish to knit them and keep for reference.

In the above photo, Color A is Medium Blue, Color B is Royal Blue and Color C is Soft Blue.  Feel free to experiment with different combinations of colors.  There is no right or wrong way!

Can you see this in red, white and blue for a July baby?  The sky is the limit!
