Cuddly Soft Baby Blanket Knitting Pattern available on Ravelry and Etsy

The Cuddly Soft Baby Blanket is a beginner level baby blanket knitting pattern and the first baby blanket that I ever knit.   If you can knit, purl, YO and K2tog, this baby blanket will be a joy to knit.

Simple and easy, it has texture and style.  By using Hobby Lobby acrylic yarn, you can throw it in the washer and dryer and it stays soft and doesn’t pill.

This baby blanket pattern is stroller sized  but it is easily adapted to larger sizes.  Simply cast on more stitches and knit it as long as you like.

It is a very easy to understand and versatile pattern.

Rated on Ravelry as easy, it may be customized by using different color yarn for each 14 row repeat.  The yarn I am using is self striping which makes for a very easy variation of this baby blanket!

For this project I used 4 skeins of Hobby Lobby’s “I Love This Yarn” in Cypress Land

In this post you will find yarn and needle suggestions for this fun knitting pattern.

Yarn

For this project I used 2 1/3 skeins of Hobby Lobby’s I Love This Yarn.  And oh how I love it!  It is worsted weight, super soft and it is great for young parents who enjoy throwing the blankets in and out of the washer and dryer without worry.  It simply gets softer and softer with wash and wear.

This blanket is shown in the colorway Crescent Land

How much yarn should I buy?

Using worsted or aran weight yarn and assuming a gauge of 4.5 stitches to the inch:

  • Baby: 700 yards for 28 x 36
  • Small: 1000 yards for 34 x 40
