Cuddly Soft Baby Blanket

Baby Blanket Knitting Pattern available on Ravelry and Etsy

The Cuddly Soft Baby Blanket is one of my favorite baby blankets to knit up when I’m short on time!  Most of the rows are knit, some are purled, and there is a lace row of YO’s.

Simple and easy, it has texture and style.  New mommies especially love this cuddly and soft baby blanket!

This baby blanket pattern is stroller sized  – but it is easily adapted to larger sizes.  Simply cast on more stitches and knit it as long as you like.

It is a very easy to understand and versatile pattern.

Rated on Ravelry as easy, it may be customized by using different color yarn for each 14 row repeat.

I often knit this blanket with worsted or aran weight yarn with a larger needle than recommended for the yarn because it yields a nice, airy blanket.

For this project I used 4 skeins of I Love This Cotton in Water Lily. I decided to try it with cotton yarn and I loved the drape!

In this article you will find yarn and needle suggestions for this fun knitting pattern.

Needles

I always use interchangeable circular needles for every knitting project.  Even when not knitting in the round, the work can sit on the cable safely, without risk of falling off and unraveling.

For this project I used a size 8 needle for a gauge of 18 stitches = 4″.

I have two great suggestions for Interchangeable Needle Sets

1. Knitpicks

Knitpicks needles are unsurpassed in smooth joins, warm wood and flexible cables.  I love the caspian and majestic sets.  You simply cannot go wrong with Knitpicks Needles!

2. Annie’s Craft Store

If you are traveling soon, here is a set of needles that are approved by airport security and come in a wonderful compact case.  They are from Annie’s Craft Catalog and their needles are just great.  You may want to pin this for another day if you think you may need them:

Yarn

For this project I used Hobby Lobby’s I Love This Cotton.  And oh how I love it!  It is worsted weight, super soft and it is great for young parents who enjoy throwing the blankets in and out of the washer and dryer without worry.  It simply gets softer and softer with wash and wear.

This blanket is shown in the colorway “Waterlily”.

I Love This Yarn is available at Hobby Lobby online.
