Traveling Hat and Cowl

I made this hat and cowl set with Lorna Laces and Manos Del Uruguay Wool.  I call it the Traveling Hat & Cowl because I knit it on a trip to NH for a wedding.

Hat: Cast on 60 stitches of Blue in size 7 needles. K2, P2 for 5 inches for the brim. Changed to size 9 needles. Knit one row in blue, one row in variegated until piece measures 9 inches from the folded edge (11 1/2 inches total). Decrease each row for about 6 rows. Pull the yarn through remaining stitches and knot. Add pompom.

Cowl: Cast on 80 stitches of Blue in size 7 needles. k2 with variegated, p2 with blue. Continue for one inch. Switch to size 9 needles. Knit one row in blue, one row in variegated until piece measures 9” from cast on edge. Switch to size 7 needles. K2 with variegated, p2 with blue for one inch. Bind off.

Disclaimer: I am a super loose knitter. Most knitters would use size 9 and size 11 needles for this project.

This bag was a gift from my bff and is one of my very favorites.  Here is where you can find it!
