Beau’s Beanies

I used variations of Beau’s Beanie pattern and the Berry Baby Hat pattern on Ravelry. Both were made with Berocco Comfort yarn.  The blue one was size 5 needles and CO 48 stitches.  It was too long at 5 1/2″ for a preemie baby and also too wide.  So I tried the very berry hat, CO 48 stitches with size 4 needles.  In both cases I seemed to have a gauge of 4.5 stitches to the inch.  This time it was 4 1/2″ long and still about an inch too long for a preemie.  It was also a little wide, but we rolled up the brim and it fit a bit loosely.  The next try will be 3.5 inches long.
