Knitting the Lionhearted Jungle Theme Baby Blanket Pattern is a great way to build your skills while making something truly special. The entire design is created using just knit and purl stitches, which makes it both approachable and rewarding.
The lion motif is included in both charted and written formats, so you can follow along in whatever way works best for you. Garter stitch borders frame the blanket, and the textured sections in Terra Cotta and Green are easy 4-row repeats that you’ll memorize in no time.
The blanket is knit in one piece with no seaming—just switch to a new color when you start a new section. Knit stitches form clean borders between each section to keep everything tidy and distinct.
A 5-stitch garter edge runs along both sides of every row. When working the Lionheart panel, for example, you’ll knit 5, slip a marker, repeat the chart four times, then knit the last 5 stitches. On right-side rows, you’ll follow a mix of knits and purls to form the design, and on wrong-side rows, it’s all purled.
Watching that little lion face take shape as you go is half the fun!
