Pom pom baby hat

This little hat is one of my favorite things I have made yet – and it only took a few hours!  I used worsted weight Ella Rae yarn which is 75% acrylic, 25% wool.  I am such a loose knitter that I had to go down to size 2 needles to get the tighter knit I wanted for gauge, which ended up to be 5 1/2 stitches per inch.  I cast on 64 stitches and knit in the round for 5 inches.  At that point I started decreasing every other row, beginning with K6,K2tog, all around.  Then Knit around, then K5K2tog, etc.  I had to change to DPN’s at about the K4 stage. Then came the pom pom.  I have been so afraid to make a pompom!  I have a Clover pompom maker.  The directions made no sense so I called up a YouTube video and in about 5 minutes I had the cutest pompom ever!  I want to make a lot more of these hats!
