Conrad’s Cable Hat

Conrad’s Cable Hat

This little red, white and blue hat was made for my little grandson who is almost one year old.  It’s a great stash buster – I used 3 different worsted weight yarns.   I used size 4 and 5 needles, even though size 6 and 7 are called for, because I am an extremely loose knitter.  I also cast on 64 stitches instead of the recommended 80 to get a 16″ circumference.

The simplicity of this hat includes the fact that the cable needle is only used on 3 rows.  The brim is extra long and it can be folded up or down as the child grows.  This was a very easy, quick and rewarding knit!
