Sleepytime Sailboats Baby Blanket Knitting Pattern

This nautical and sailboat themed baby blanket features sailboats in the middle with sections of stockinette, garter stitch and a textured stitch that makes you think of a day at the beach! The pattern is written for stroller size, but could be made larger for crib size by casting on in increments of 21 stitches. All stitches are knit and purl.

The Sailboat chart is also written out in easy row by row directions for those who do not like a chart.

The stitches you need to know are:

➰ Knit
➰ Purl

I made this baby blanket for a friend who was decorating a baby nursery in shades of blue and green with a nautical look. The blanket was a big hit at her baby shower!

Yarn

I used about 1 1/4 skeins of  Hobby Lobby’s I Love This Yarn for this project.

Needles

Next step – gather my needles.  I always knit with circular needles because the work can rest safely on the cable when I am not knitting.  The needles I have been using lately are the Knitpicks Circular Interchangeable Needles.  I really just love them.  For my baby blankets and the Hobby Lobby yarn I like, I always choose a size 8 needle.

I have been loving this needle organizer from Etsy.  It keeps everything together in one place.  I can throw it in my knitting bag and everything stays put.
